Its been 2 weeks now that the Project English has been launched in our house. Sahej has been told to speak in English only with me and Jovita. With others, he can speak in Hindi if he likes.
And the results have been more than satisfactory. When we started, Sahej was able to speak English in broken sentences, which were hard to understand and had little meaning. But now, he is able to convey his message in English most of the times, and at others if he is not, he first speaks in hindi to know what needs to be said in English and then repeats the same in English to get the grasp of the things.
Overall the results are more than what we had expected. Initially it was difficult to cajole him into accepting this change. But now, when he is speaking to nani, he is speaking in hindi, and then when he starts speaking to me, he immediately starts speaking in English. So as to speak, the switch is now in place. And we hope that with time his English will improve and he will be able to stand up and express himself when ever needed.
As he is going to Jain these days, he can sleep till 9 or 9:15, which is actually quite good for him and me as well :). So now-a-days, when I ask him to wake up, he does not ask for 2 minutes as he used to do when going for DPS. So when a couple of days back in the afternoon, after coming from school, he asked his nani to give him something, and nani was trying to sleep, and she told him that give her 2 minutes, his reply was a prompt "papa mujhe aaj kal 2 minutes nahin dete, so nani jaldi utho"(Papa doesn't give me 2 minutes these days when I wake up, so I won't give u either, so wake up fast).
Yesterday was mother's day. Sahej wished Jovita the same and when Jovita asked for a gift, he thought for some time, and then came up with the idea that he will order a Pizza for her and also came up remembering the number of a pizza corner, which though was not correct, but the willingness and his attitude was for all to see. He showed that he can take care and was ready to get her a gift.
Chalo more later.
Bye
