First Homework

Hello
So the day arrived when Sahej brought home his first official home work. Official because last saturday also he got a homework, but because Sahej was enjoying Ooty and had skipped School, he was sparred. But this saturday, he got his work cut out and got a complete page as his homework. He had to write "1" on the space marked in the book.
True to his part, Sahej was not easy to his home work as well. I tried getting it completed on Saturday itself. But after a couple of lines, he got bored and started giving excuses. Some of them were "mere haath mein pain ho rahi hai"(my hand hurts), "mujhe mosquito kaat gaya hai"(mosquito is biting me), "mujhe egg khana hai"(i need an egg to eat). So after much excuses he finally was able to resist doing his homework. He slept early that day and was sparred from completing the task.
Next day, Sunday, we went to Gurudware. We had decided that once we reach home, we need to get the homework completed because after that Sahej would be hard to catch. So when we reached home, we both grabbed Sahej and his book and his pencil and tried to get the work done. And his excuses started again. He started crying and fought hard to not do his work. Finally after much persuation and begging and then finally bribing him with my ming mobile, he finally agreed to complete the page. It took less then 10 minutes for him to complete the homework. He and both of us were very happy that he had done his first home work.
We are already worrying about the next home works to come our way. But hope Sahej starts taking his work seriously and helps us in getting the task done.
Thanks

Monkey Lost

Hi
Sahej has a moneky which he loves very much. He will take it to every where he goes, and show him everything like TV, views from his car etc. He even talks to him. He is his best friend if we can say so.
He took the monkey to Ooty as well. And on the first day in Ooty, took him to market as well. He showed him everything he was watching himself. Then he went into "Big Shop" and somehow forgot to take his monkey back to his hotel. The next day, we went to Coonoor and forgot everything about the monkey. When we were coming back to Bangalore and were on the way, Sahej demanded to have his monkey back. At that moment we realised that his moneky has been lost somewhere. We some how kept his hopes alive by telling him that the monkey was in the bags abd he will get it when we reach home. But deep inside we knew, his monkey is gone for ever and feared for the worse.
When at home, we searched for every thing in the bags and the monkey was not there. He was in Ooty somehere. Sahej was inconsolable, crying fior his monkey to be given back to him. After much deliberation, he accepted that his monley has been taken away by the big monkey which attacked Jovita and will not come back. He some how agreed to give Sheep his place. All this time he was crying and saying "ab main kiske saath soyunga, mujhe raat ko dar lagega"(With whom will I sleep now, I will be afraid in the night).
When we copied the pictures of the vacation, Sahej was having his monkey with him in every photo till the time he lost it. I feared for this that when he watches his snaps, he will cry again. And this is what happened. he was crying for his monkey all the time he watched the snaps. His plight was unbearable.
I got the idea while doing my daily path(maybe Babaji gave this idea) to call the 'Big Shop" and see if they have found something. We got the number and Jovita called them. They said they'll search for it and let us know. We called again next day and to our surprise and Sahej's good luck, they had indeed found the monkey some place in their shop and promised to courier us the same.
We were finally relieved to hear this. We have not yet told sahej about his found moneky. We are waiting for the courier to come back and thenw ant to see the reaction on his face when we gets back his moneky.
Hopefully it comes back safe and sound.
Till Then
Bye...

Ooty

Hi
Last weekend we travelled to Ooty to have the long awaited and planned family vacation. This vacation had been a brain child of Jovita and she had been vouching for it for a long time. I had finally given my go ahead some time last month. Then we started planning for it and that took a long time as well. The train tickets were not available and it had to be delayed by a week to get the tickets. We even had to get tickets in tatkal for first part of the journey.
We went to Bangalore first by train. It was a joy ride with Sahej enjoying his train journey. He slept fine and was happy to be on train. From there we had the taxi booked which will take us to Ooty. In the way to Ooty, we stopped at Madhumalai Wilf Life Sanctuary. We were hoping to get the wild ride there but the timings of the ride were not suitable for us. So we skipped it for the next time. Here there are a lot of monkeys and you have to keep yourself away from them. Jovita was attacked by one monkey here when she was trying to eat peanuts here.
In the way from the Sanctuary, we saw a lot of animals like Deer, monkeys and elephants strolling freely. The drive was absolutely fantastic. The road to Ooty was lined by breath taking views and we could see clouds on the road. We checked into the hotel upon our arrival and to our dismay found that we could not go and see anything in Ooty as everything closes at 6. So we went and spent the time in the market. The markets in Ooty are very different from the North Hill stations. The only thing famous in ooty is home made chocolates. Anyways, we always find some place where we can buy things. This time around was no different and we foung the "Big Shop" on Cooperation road where we started the shopping. We shopped for DVD's, Sahej toys and games. Next morning we were to take the toy train ride from ooty to Coonoor. We already had the tickets so we just reached the railway station and boorded the train. The tickets have to be booked in advance as there is quite a rush for the journey. The journey is a good one taking us through the views, tunnels and finally reached Coonoor.
Coonoor is far more beautiful that Ooty. It has tea plantations and also very good natural views. We went to Sims park. Then we went to Lamb's Rock. It is a good place to see the nature at its best. Here Jovita was attacked the second time by monkeys which took the chips packet from her purse. From there we went to Kotagiri as some friends of Jovita had told her it was a beautiful place. The views on the way were indeed very good, but there is nothing else in Kotagiri. But then for some adventure, we went to see the catherine Falls. To our surprise, there was no fall at all. It was just a small fall and we just wasted the time to reach there. We went back to Ooty and then to Lake which we had heard was very big. The lake was indeed very big and was heavy on smell as well. we just eated some snacks there. Then took a toy train which takes you around the lake. Then we bought some toys for Sahej and some home made chocolates and came back to hotel.
The next day we were to start the journey back. We started around 30 minutes late. We were to stop at the Pykara Lake on the way. But we some how missed it and then went stratight to Mysore to see the Tipu Sultan Palace. The palace is a huge one and needed time to discover it, which we were short of. So we just had some photos clicked there. Sahej took the elephant ride there. At the end he said "kitna ganda tha woh. uske baal mujhe chhubh rahe the"(How much dirty he was. His hair were pricking me)., Then we dashed out for bangalore. We stopped for lunch and after it was finished, we realised we just did not had the time to reach back to bangalore to catch the Rajdhani. So we urged the driver to drive fast.
Every 10 min or so, we all were watching the clock and trying to look for the km's remaining. We were thinking of the sequence of Jab we Met where Kareena has to run and catch the train. We thought we'll have to do the same. But eventually with the grace of Babaji, we did managed to reach the railway station good 20 mins before the train started. We settled in, had the dinner and slept.
In the morning reached hyderabad and reached home to start the daily grind again.
Overall the trip was very good and a lot of fun.
Looking forward to the next vacation.
Bye

School Time Finally

Hi

So DPS finally opened for Sahej on 17th June. It was a hard morning for Sahej. He has been unwell for 2-3 days now. Earlier it was fever and yesterday it turned into cold. Last night, he had cried a lot while we were trying to do his juda and had vomited in the process. In the morning, it was hard to awake him, which was not unknown as Sahej normally wakes at around 11. So after a hard fought battle between him and us, he finally was ready to go to school. He got his bag, books, lunch box, water bottle and dashed away to school. As it was the first day, we were expected to drop him to school. We reached there and then searched for his class. He has been alloted Section D in Nursery. When we reached his class, Sahej went to greet his teacher, who incidentally was talking to one of the parents. He waited patiently for the teacher to finish her talk and then greeted her affectionately and also told her his name. Sure enough, Sahej knows how to make first impressions and also knows how to score marks among those who matter. Finally he settled in one of the chairs and was among the select few who were not crying for the fear of the school. He was busy shaking hands with other kids. We left him there to enjoy his first day. We then came back at around 12 to pick him from school. He had not touched his lunch box which was strange. We then dropped him back home and there he started relaxing. No mean feat for Sahej to wake up at 7 in the morning and get ready to school. He must have been dead tired.
His first few saturdays have been made working because school opened late. So some stress for Sahej in the coming days as he copes with the changed routine of getting up early and going to school.
Best of luck for his school and hope he performs good there.

School opens....or did it really opened

Hi
So this week school was to start. It was a hectic weekend as we had to do the last minute shopping for bags, pencils, rubbers, sharpeners, bag, pencil box, socks and other things. Then we had to get the dress also picked from the shop. So we started the weekend by going to Lifestyle and picking up the bag, and some other things. Then some things were picked from Central and the Noddy Shop. We picked the dress on Sunday and then there was a hectic search for a shop where we can get a "Patka" or a head gear for Sahej to wear to School. But to my amazement, I could not find a single shop in Hyderabad that sells the patkas. So finally I had to call Dad to semd me a courier of patkas.
Also Sahej got himself Roller Skates as a gift from his nani. And with the skates he got a doctor set absolutely free. So on weekends we had a resident doctor who was continousy checking our blood pressure, taking temparatures and giving us injections and then applying band aid on them. An interesting quote from Sahej came when I asked him "Beta ab bas kar"(Son, please stop), he replied "Oye, main beta thode hi hu, main to doctor hu"(Hey!I am not the son, I am the Doctor...). So how do you respond to these.
Then we had to get his socks and that was the most troublesome part. We went to Reabock Juniors and they told us that the only place where we can get the socks is in Himayat Nagar. No option. We had to go there and get the socks. It is good 25-30 Km from the place where we were. So we went there, got the socks. Then went to Minerva Coffee Shop for some Dosas and Coffee. While we were enjoying the lunch, there was some heavy rain going on outside. We found to our horror when we came out of the Coffee Shop that the road is completely immersed in water and the water is good 1 1.5 feet deep. So I went to get the car and when I open it, what I find inside is that the rain ater is inside the car. So a good experience of rain.
So Sahej was enjoying his last weekend before the school officially opened. He got himself a new Mr.Bean CD and was busy watching it whole weekend. He was so eager to see the new CD that he actually pushed us to complete our lunch early so that he can go home and watch the CD.
The day before his school opened, I came early from work and there came another of his smart lines "Aaj aap itni jaldi late kaise ho gaye". I could not answer this one.
So finally the day arrived when Sahej was to start the DPS. He had to wake up at 7.00 AM which is like very very early for him. Somehow he managed to get ready and off we went to drop him to DPS. And guys what came next was nothing short of an anti-climax. When we reached school, there was not a single soul there and we thought that we might have cam elate. But to our surprise, school had been delayed by a week and we were informed that now it will open on 17th. So bechara a completely ready Sahej was dropped home for a week of CD'd and POGO.
Chalo enjoy another break from School.
Take care

Transformation from Sahej to Raj Inder Singh

Hello
Yesterday night was a big night for Sahej.
He eventually started the transformation from being Sahej to Raj Inder Singh.
A transformation to being a full Sikh.
He had his hairs tied in a "Juda" for the first time in his life last night at around 12:05 AM on 1st June 2009.
I had always thought that when the moment comes to move from a pony clad Sahej to a Juda clad Raj Inder, Sahej is going to cause a ruckus. He is not going to easily give away his pony for somewhat paneful juda. But I was proved wrong all ends up. He not only calmly underwent the transformation, but also enjoyed being a full Sikh for the first time in his life. The day also meant that "sadaa"(ours) Sahej is not growing up fast. A step into future life.

He looked different. He acted differently for sure. To me he was looking just as pretty as he used to look with his pony. To his mother, he looked not that pretty. To himself, he looked good as he went to look himself in the mirror and then was smilling. So eventually he accepted the change in his personallity well.
This is also the last week of holidays for Sahej as the school opens next week. So this whole week will be kind of a practice time for him to get acquited to his new look, and for us to make sure we kind of perfect the task.
Chalo Sahej, enjoy the new look and hopefully you carry this look all your life.
Bye,
Sukhmeet
